Ginkgo Joy 3 is a celebration of color, movement, and the small moments of beauty that appear along the way.
Vivid ginkgo forms drift through a deep, atmospheric field of charcoal, plum, and muted violet. Brilliant greens, turquoise, yellow, and touches of coral emerge against the darker ground, while delicate stems and scattered fragments create the feeling of leaves caught in a gentle current.
The elongated composition encourages the eye to wander from one form to another, discovering unexpected passages of color along the way. Created with oil and cold wax over acrylic ink, layers are built up, obscured, and revealed again, leaving traces of the painting's history visible within each leaf.
Rather than portraying the ginkgo literally, Ginkgo Joy 3 explores its shape as a vessel for color and emotion. Joy appears here in pieces—sometimes bold and impossible to miss, sometimes small enough that we have to pay attention to find it.
