20" x 18" | Oil & Cold Wax over Acrylic Ink on Wood Panel | Original Artwork
Ginkgo forms emerge from a deep, layered field of charcoal, violet, and muted blue, glowing with unexpected passages of turquoise, yellow, green, coral, and gold. Some leaves appear nearly whole while others dissolve into abstraction, surrounded by scattered fragments and delicate lines that give the painting a sense of movement and transformation.
Created with oil and cold wax over acrylic ink, the surface reveals the history of its making. Layers are added, obscured, scraped back, and rediscovered, allowing color and marks from beneath to unexpectedly reappear.
The ancient ginkgo is often associated with resilience, endurance, and hope. In this piece, the leaves feel as though they are emerging from darkness, changing as they move through it rather than remaining untouched by it. There is beauty in what is whole, what is fragmented, and what is still becoming.
