A vibrant bouquet held in a beautifully broken vase—an exploration of how something can be fractured and still hold beauty, purpose, and life.
Layers of expressive flowers in oranges, purples, pinks, and greens fill the composition, while the vase below is fragmented with energetic marks and fractured passages of lavender, white, and deep violet. The contrast between the abundant flowers and the visibly broken vessel creates a quiet tension: the brokenness doesn't prevent the beauty from flourishing.
Painted with acrylic, oil, and cold wax on wood panel, the surface is richly layered and tactile, with scraped passages, translucent color, gestural marks, and glimpses of earlier layers throughout.
Part of my Beautifully Broken series, this painting reflects the idea that brokenness is not the opposite of beauty. Sometimes, it becomes part of what makes the beauty visible.
